FCEA is dedicated to Education and the pursuit of Equestrian Excellence.  To that end FCEA promotes and rewards Education, Volunteerism and excellence in and around the "Sand Box".

 

Education is promoted thru our various clinics and seminars, and rewards members that are dedicated to education thru the FCEA University Program.  

 

The Volunteer Program, utilizes a Voucher Program, along with Educational Grants and Scholarships and a year end award for the Spirit of FCEA

FCEA Voucher Program

 

PURPOSE

The purpose of the FCEA Voucher program is to give members an opportunity to receive credit for hours worked at affiliated shows, and then be able to attend affiliated shows and FCEA educational activities for a reduced fee.

REQUIREMENTS for ELIGIBILITY

  • Participating affiliated shows will award one voucher for each half day (four hours) worked.
  • Vouchers may be awarded to both members and interested non-members.
  • Working half days (4 hours) earns the volunteer (both members and non-members), a $5 volunteer voucher.  Vouchers can be redeemed for $5 off show entries at FCEA organized shows or participating affiliated shows.  Contact show management to verify voucher use.
  • Note: Hours worked at affiliated shows do not count towards grants or awards requirements.

GUIDELINES FOR USE

  • At shows, vouchers may be redeemed at one voucher per class, with a maximum of two per show.  Check with show management to verify acceptance.
  • For activities, vouchers may be used towards the cost of admission/entry up to 1/day.
  • The value of the voucher is not to exceed $5 and may only be redeemed by the person named on the voucher or a member of the immediate family (parent, spouse, or child).

 

 

FCEA Educational Grant

 

PURPOSE

The purpose of the FCEA Grant program is to reward volunteer service and promote continuing education for FCEA members.

 

REQUIREMENTS for ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be an FCEA member in good standing at the time the grant is earned and redeemed.
  • Grants are awarded one for each eight (8) hours of volunteer service, in a calendar year, at FCEA organized activities.  Questions on volunteer hours can be directed to the Volunteer Coordinator – Sandy Foster at sfoster1964@dejazzd.com
  • Grants may be used only for education of the rider, not for the training or maintenance of the horse.

GUIDELINES for Use

  • Only 1 Grant may be redeemed for each activity up to 1/day.
  • Maximum grant value is $50.  No credit given for unused portions.
  • Grants may be redeemed for club activities fees and (NEW for 2014) for lessons with club approved instructors.
  • Grants may not be used for shows

REIMBURSEMENT Guidelines

  • Grants redeemed at club activities, should be submitted as part of the activity payment.
  • For lessons, Members can be reimbursed up to $50 for each lesson with a Club Approved Instructor (CAI).  The instructor must sign, date and value the Educational Grant.  The grant is then submitted to the treasurer for reimbursement, up to 2 per month.
  • Grants being used as reimbursement for instruction from club instructors must be endorsed and valued by the instructor, and then submitted to the treasurer for reimbursement to the member student.  (Student is responsible for the full initial lesson payment.)

FCEA Scholarship Guidelines

PURPOSE

The purpose of the FCEA Scholarship program is to promote continuing education and volunteer service to FCEA and its members. Applicants must show a serious commitment to the study of Dressage and/or Eventing as well as a willingness to share and enrich the FCEA membership with the improved understanding and skills gained from the experience. This scholarship represents an investment by FCEA.

 

REQUIREMENTS for ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be an FCEA member in good standing for a minimum of 1 year at the time of the application.
  • An individual may apply for a scholarship no more often than once every 2 years.
  • Applicants must have met volunteer requirements at club functions and events for the previous year of membership.
  • Scholarship may be used only for education of the rider, not for the training or maintenance of the horse.
  • Funds must be used for specifically stated objective (i.e. clinic, riding camp, seminar, etc.).
  • Willingness to share benefits of experience with FCEA membership.

 

APPLICATION      

  • Application can be downloaded from the FCEA website and submitted to the Education chairperson.
  • List of FCEA volunteer service. (Can be obtained from the Volunteer Chair.)
  • Brief description of the applicant’s riding background, level at which they are currently riding, and short term goals.
  • Copy of Clinic entry form and flyer.  (Must show cost of clinic)
  • Potential benefits of attending this event and how it will help the applicant reach their goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF RECIPIENT

Recipients must write an article for the newsletter & web site describing the activity for which the scholarship was utilized. Articles must be submitted within 30 days of using the funds.

 

SCHOLARSHIP/EDUCATION COMMITTEE

  • Will meet twice a year, or as necessary to review applications and award scholarships. Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year.
  • Scholarships will be approved before the event and recipient will be notified in writing.  Reimbursement will occur after article for the newsletter has been received.
  • Scholarship will be awarded for up to 50% of the cost of clinic, but not to exceed $250. (not including trailering, stabling or any other additional fees)

FCEA UNIVERSITY

  • The French Creek University Program recognizes members who strive to increase their equestrian knowledge through participation in educational programs
  • Lectures, seminars, workshops, demonstrations and unmounted clinics are eligible
  • Non-French Creek activities must be submitted to the education committee prior to attendance to be eligible for credit
  • Candidates and/or organizer must submit credit hours and name of program after its completion
  • French Creek will record credit hours and post on the web site

 

Levels of Achievement

  • Certificate - 24 hours – $12 certificate and FCEA shirt
  • Bronze Medal - 40 hours – $20.00 certificate and Medal
  • Silver Medal - 80 hours – $40.00 certificate and Medal
  • Gold Medal - 150 hours – $75.00 certificate and Medal
  • Platinum Medal - 250 hours – $125 certificate and Medal.

Certificates would be from an Equine Educational store or web site to purchase educational books or videos of their choice.
